IPD GWC - PETITION FOR ACADEMIC RANK

The IPD welcomes full-time tenured faculty members to apply for a promotion in Academic Rank. When new faculty are hired, they are given a rank that has defined requirements for promotion.

Academic Rank recognizes sustained excellence in teaching, professional achievement, leadership, and service to Golden West College. While Academic Rank does not affect salary placement, it honors faculty whose continued commitment enhances student success, strengthens shared governance, promotes a culture of academic excellence, and elevates the reputation and prestige of the college. The distinction also supports the college’s efforts in accreditation by recognizing faculty expertise, professional engagement, and contributions to continuous improvement. Additionally, Academic Rank may enhance professional credibility when pursuing grants, collaborating with external partners, presenting scholarly work, or representing the college in professional organizations. Applicants are encouraged to reflect on how their accomplishments and future contributions support the mission and long-term success of Golden West College.
