Established in 1981, PUENTE is a national award winning program that has improved the college going rate of tens of thousands of students in California. It is an academic, counseling and mentoring program for students to build the necessary skills for college and life success. Students enrolled in the Puente program work closely with their counselor, English instructor and mentor to prepare for transfer to four-year colleges and universities while learning more about Latinx/Hispanic Heritage. Program Requirements:
✓ Complete OCC Application ✓ Be enrolled as an OCC student (full-time or part-time) ✓ Complete FAFSA Application or CA Dream Act ☐ Complete Puente Interest Form ☐ Complete Puente Orientation ☐ Complete the Puente Student Contract ☐ Enroll in Puente English and Puente Counseling Class for Fall ☐ Meet with Puente Counselor/Coordinator

However, you are more than welcome to fill out our Puente interest form even if you're not currently a student at OCC. A staff member will reach out to you shortly to assist with the next steps to ensure your eligibility for the program.
Welcome to the Coast! To be eligible for the Puente Program at OCC, you must first complete an OCC application. Click here to submit your application. If you plan to transfer previous coursework, please arrange for your official transcript to be sent to our Enrollment Center (click here for further instructions). When you meet with our Puente counselor, make sure to discuss your previous coursework and college to ensure a smooth continuation of your academic journey at OCC.
Thank you for your interest in the Puente Program at OCC. One of the eligibility requirements is that you must intend to transfer to a four year university.
